Here are some very early rough thumbnail sketches of the story. In this version, the main protagonist is an older gentlemen magician. At the time I was exploring the idea of playing with time by jumping back to the events of the day every time the character got home, in order to show the monotony of his life day-in and day-out.
In the end, we see him entering a colorful house with flowers that magically appear as he walks by. I was unsure at this point about the ending, because the story was lacking a definite conflict/resolution. While there was some internal conflict, it was not as well defined as it could have been, and there was no real resolution to the problem. As such the ending is unfinished, but various elements of this version of the story were used in later storyboard productions.
